# Position Description:
Semrock is currently looking for a hands-on Coating Maintenance Technician to support its thin-film coating operations. The right candidate will have significant experience with thin film coating technologies, hardware and associated vacuum systems and electronics.
# Specific job responsibilities include:
Support the thin-film coating operation with vacuum equipment and electronics expertise;
Real-time troubleshooting of coating issues based on root cause assessment;
Support off-line improvement projects in particular as related to maintenance, uptime and MTBF;
Support facility systems as needed;
Work with engineering and manufacturing to improve process and equipment reliability.
Key success criteria for this position are: Coating machine uptime, and factory overall efficiency (FOE) defined as the product of yields, cycle time and uptime normalized to theoretically achievable goals.
# Background and Qualifications:
Success in this position requires the applicant to have:
A minimum of a 2-year technical degree and 3+ years experience with high-vacuum deposition, or 6+ years relevant experience;
Direct experience with ion sources and electron guns;
Direct experience with the repair, diagnostics and root-cause analysis of vacuum equipment issues;
Formal electronics and vacuum training desirable;
Experience with facility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, and chilled-water systems desirable;
Experience using measurement systems as applied to thin film coating production, such as spectrophotometers, interferometers, oscilloscopes and other electrical, optical and mechanical test equipment
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Proficiency with MS office;
Basic understanding of computer hardware and interfaces;
Willingness to work flexible work hours including weekends and/or holidays.

This position is based in Rochester, New York and reports to the Supervisor of Coating Maintenance.
