JOB INFORMATION Our Multifamily Technology team is looking for a Director of Technology in Herndon, VA that will be leading key initiatives in our Securitization sub-portfolio including Credit Risk Management, Bond Administration and Disclosure. We are looking for a strong and experienced leader with a deep technical and business background who can effectively lead us to our target state. You will be managing a diverse engineering team and leading both the adoption and maturation of full Agile delivery. The role will involve heavy relationship and vendor management and we believe a successful leader will be able to build trusting partnerships with the business, knowing how and when to push back and to compromise. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS * Oversee all aspects of the Engineering organization and manage the end to end technology execution through self-organizing, autonomous agile teams * Define and manage the technology landscape and blueprint for the entire solution stack. Work closely with lead engineers and architects to co-own the architecture and component strategy Actively engage in program increment planning, delivery and management of releases * Provide technology leadership to the engineering team Provide expert technical guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, operations, sales and product * Ensure consistent best practices, processes, and procedures for software development, quality assurance, and maintenance Identify risks and opportunities for each project and program * Mentor, motivate, and lead Engineering teams to support a vibrant and productive engineering culture Coordinate recruiting efforts across engineering units to ensure consistency and continued excellence * Lead the organization's strategic planning process, coordinate with Product Development team to align engineering, and business priorities * Communicate with multiple stakeholders effectively * Cultivate a high-performing, unified team culture Qualification: EDUCATION * B.S or M.S in Computer Science or related field MINIMUM EXPERIENCE * 8+ years of related experience in managing/leading teams SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Required Skills * Minimum 7 years of experience as a Sr. Manager or Director leading geographically distributed technical teams including internal employees, vendor sourced team members and vendor sourced delivery * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and operate independently with a high level of ambiguity and routine change * Demonstrated experience partnering and building relationships with executive management across multiple business functions * Experience managing and developing team members, setting goals, mentoring, coaching, establishing team structure, and providing effective team communication * Ability to lead strategic delivery (multiyear planning horizon, end-to-end capability mindset, broad spanning influence, etc.) and to drive successful, high-quality and efficient execution leveraging internal and vendor sourced agile build models * Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with experience leading the adoption of Agile practices across multiple teams and business functions * Experience building and supporting mission-critical applications leveraging industry best practices and trends (Design Thinking, APIs, Microservices, Containers, etc.) * Excellent written and oral communication skills with various levels of stakeholders from team members to executives Desired Skills * Experience leading teams through Cloud and DevOps adoptions with a broad mix of current technologies * Experience leading delivery in the area of Multifamily Securitization including related emerging technologies EMPLOYMENT As a condition of employment with Fannie Mae, any successful job applicant will be required to successfully complete a background investigation.
