OB SUMMARY: The maintenance technician reports directly to the Engineering Manager. Provides technical support, primarily mechanical and electrical, to production operations, inclusive of equipment set-up, adjustments, part changeovers, and equipment maintenance of all departmental production equipment. Responsibilities include preparing work orders in the SAP ATR system, monitoring production, quality, downtime and waste levels related to machine operation. Projects positive attitude in providing leadership and training for associates on production floor. Interacts with engineering staff to resolve and improve equipment operation and processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the day to day electro-mechanical operation of production equipment with functions that include:

  • Provides leadership in a team environment, interfacing directly with production supervision, manufacturing line leads, and engineering technicians to provide adequate training and routine mechanical adjustment of manufacturing equipment
  • Provides support to set-up and maintain pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems on production equipment.
  • Maintains equipment in working order to produce product within specified quality and quantity limits, adjusting, troubleshooting, cleaning, and repairing as necessary.
  • Maintains equipment logs on manufacturing equipment, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems. Provides relevant information to production supervision and engineering for remediation of repeat failures.
  • Supports engineering technician in maintaining and adjusting vision systems within defined parameters.
  • Interfaces with engineering technician for more complex equipment failure.
  • Interfaces with quality and engineering to document repair activities in accordance with site practices.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment as specified within the PM program. Works with engineering technician to audit and revise PMs as necessary.
  • Maintains equipment spare parts inventory, inclusive of RFQ and procurement of necessary equipment parts for preventive and corrective maintenance purposes.
  • Assists with the migration and setup of equipment management within SAP.
  • Complies with all safety standards and initiatives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintains tool box and cleanliness of tool room
  • Provide manufacturing support on a 24-hour call-in basis for fill-in off-shift coverage.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 60lbs.
  • Participates in Kaizen and Lean activities as necessary to support continuous improvement initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment with working knowledge of start-up, shut down, operational adjustments, and maintenance repair production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, pneumatic schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products
  • Prior involvement with enterprise asset management systems utilized to monitor maintenance, repair, and operational information of equipment maintenance functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have high school diploma, GED, and relevant vocational/technical school diploma
  • Associates degree in mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or equivalent AA technical degree, preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment operating equipment or performing maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment.
