About the Role

The Stamping Pilot team will be assembled to support the launch of the Model X vehicle. This will be an exciting project for Tesla Motors as it will be our 3rd vehicle launch. You can learn more about the Model X here:


* Serve as first line maintenance support for new equipment development (equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance activities)

* Work in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering to address issues

* Day to day coverage of production line equipment issues, including rapid response on out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize productivity

* Investigate and implement countermeasures to optimize equipment operation

* Support 5S initiatives

* Will support a 5 day a week 40 hr schedule, including flexible overtime as required (Some weekends and holidays may be required for new equipment preparations)

* Responsible to complete equipment maintenance training with other maintenance support

* Manage small equipment improvement projects which may involve multiple departments and/or outside contractors

* Manage workload with positive attitude and proactively help co-workers


* Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a manufacturing organization. This includes good communication skills: written, verbal and email

* Demonstrated expertise with equipment technologies as applicable (press equipment, robotic transfer systems, PLC systems)

* Strong problem solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly

* Capacity to multi task activities and challenges

* Passion for making a fantastic new product and developing Tesla Stamping into a Benchmark facility

* Creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with the aggressive Tesla approach to revolutionary product development

Skill set requirements:

* Excellent safety record

* Technical ability & experience within Press maintenance (manual operations, equipment troubleshooting and fault recovery, preventive maintenance activitiesetc)

* Fabrication experience for equipment improvement projects

* In depth robotic programming experience, including program development and process optimization (Motoman, Kuka, Kawasaki and Fanuc systems)

* Familiarity and applicable knowledge with various controls platforms, including Rockwell systems, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron

* Computer literate (outlook, excel, AutoCAD is a benefit)

* Maintenance technician training support and experience

* Proven problem solving experience (equipment troubleshooting, process improvements, etc)

* Ability to manage workload while contributing to a positive, team oriented work environment
