The Montana Department of Revenue administers approximately 40 state taxes, property appraisals, liquor laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana.

The Account Maintenance Technician performs specialized accounting and payment processing of all tax payment types and customer tax account registration and maintenance. The incumbent also provides a range of general services in support of mail services, records management, and information, capture and performs a variety of other duties as assigned. The position reports to the Account Maintenance and Cashiering Unit Manager and does not directly supervise other staff. This position provides guidance to other unit staff including permanent, seasonal and temporary in accounting processes, processing refunds or registration of customers.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The above competencies are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and three years of job-related work experience. Work experience should be made up of bookkeeping, payment processing, or banking and office operations. Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis. It is important that all previous work experience is listed.
