Overview / Job Summary

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

Our Rolled Products North America (RPNA) division is seeking to add a talented Maintenance Mechanic to its team at our Richmond, VA facility. The purpose of this role is to construct, install, repair, and maintain plant equipment.

Responsibilities Include

* Construct, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all types of mechanical, production and service equipment; inspect, test, adjust, balance, set and align equipment; replace bearings, couplings and shafts to close tolerance and precision fit; layout, fabricate and fit parts and assemblies using hand and power tools; work from blue prints, diagrams, sketches and handbooks.

* Braze, weld, cut, solder and metalize as required to effect repairs; disassemble, repair, assemble and adjust hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

* Perform preventative maintenance as required, fill out log book and other related reports.

* Make up slings and splices; perform heavy rigging; use crane, trucks and materials handling equipment in conjunction with assigned work.

* Notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in equipment or materials; maintain clean and orderly conditions in shop and work areas; observe all safety rules.

* Braze, weld, cut, solder and metalize as required to effect repairs; disassemble, repair, assemble and adjust hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

* To install, inspect, test, calibrate, repair, maintain electrical equipment such as motors; generators; transformers; rectifiers; switches and circuit breakers; relay and control equipment; combustion controls; communication equipment; electronic and fluid controls; electronic testing and measuring devices; precision measuring instruments; gauges; all electronic, electrical, power generation, transmission and distribution systems; instruments; panel boards; wire, cable, conduit, fittings and fasteners; insulating materials; solder; solvents and cleaning materials; paint; parts and supplies associated with the electrical craft, etc.

Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma or G.E.D required

* Minimum of (3) years maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment is required.

* Must be able available to work rotating shifts, night shifts, weekends, and overtime as required by operational needs

* Must obtain minimum score of at least 4 (Silver) on the Applied Technology section of the WorkKeys Test
