JOB SUMMARY: To perform various maintenance duties associated with a food production facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on a variety of equipment associated with the production area.
  • Keep equipment parts inventory list; order replacement parts as necessary.
  • Detect and notify Production Supervisor or Plant Manager of questionable conditions and/or equipment that is not working properly.
  • Work with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Perform maintenance of building and grounds as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with USDA or FDA, OSHA and state and local regulations and company policies and procedures; including safety guidelines and the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess knowledge of the following: machine repair, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and janitorial skills.
  • Required to be familiar with and use the hand tools and power tools necessary to perform those skills.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
  • Have the ability to comprehend verbal instructions and read and interpret machine specs, instruction manuals and product labels.
  • Be reliable and dependable; available to work Monday through Friday and occasionally Sunday as directed by management.
  • Have high level of job motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Stoop, kneel, bend at waist level, walk and stand repetitively throughout entire shift.
  • Lift and move objects up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to strong odors, wet floors, fumes, noise and cold temperatures on a regular basis
  • EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • A two year degree or completion of program in mechanical or industrial maintenance a plus
  • 5 + years manufacturing experience with strong skills in equipment repair and maintenance.
