Job Description

Progressive property management company seeks a Senior Property Accountant. This is a growing operation that manages apartment communities in three states. The successful candidate will have experience with multi-family, affordable tax credit property management accounting with an in-depth knowledge of Yardi. This experience should include maintaining and understanding all aspects of the financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, performing bank statement reconciliation, and reviewing the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement for accuracy. Experience with month-end-close duties including a review/posting of accruals would be helpful.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare financial statement, including current monthly, quarterly and year to date variances
  • Analyze and research budget variances
  • Monitor cash flow of each property and cost control/exspences to achieve budgeted NOI
  • Coordinate with mortgage companies on all issues
  • Prepare year-end work paper packages for outside CPA firm
  • Answer questions on monthly of 25+ financial statements
  • Process A/P and A/R including reviewing accounts payable batches for proper coding and approvals
  • Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are I-line with the overall goals
  • Establish and maintain relationship with banks and other financial institutions
  • Assist with month-end closing duties
  • Accurately record income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis
  • Assist property managers in annual budget process
  • Assist property management with quarterly forecasts
  • Read and understand the partnership agreement, the property management agreement and any loan documents related to assigned properties
  • Prepare wire transfers and/or check requests
Requirements:
  • Bachelor''s degree with 5+ years of residential property management accounting and finance experience
  • In-depth working knowledge of Yardi and MUST
  • Progressive background in multifamily industry a MUST
  • Experience in low income housing/Tax Credit program a plus
  • Knowledge with MS Office
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP
